Let's look into one of the theme that had been portrayed by the characters in the short story, fulfilling family obligations to marriage.
- Anna, the main character in the short story, was under pressure from her mother and aunt to get married as they were afraid that she was too old to find a suitable life partner.
- Quotes found in the short story:
- Aunt Mimi “...and you’re not married yet? Your mother was married when she was Eighteen. And you were born when she was nineteen!”
- “Aunt Mimi began, ‘I’ve found the perfect boy for you, Anna.”
- “On no! She’s trying to find a husband for me again!”...said Anna.

1. Writing an informal letter refers to a personal letter which is written to friends, relatives, or school magazines. Informal letter shares personal and family news, recognises special occasions or events, expresses congratulations, thanks, or sympathy.
2. What is the format of an informal letter? These are a few things that you need to have in your informal letter:
- Sender’s Address (at the top right side of the letter)
- Date (at the top right side of the letter)
- Salutation/Greeting (e.g. - Dear Amy)
- Closing (e.g. – Yours sincerely, Yours Truly, Love, Best Wishes)
- Sender’s Signature
